Sunday Stash Report

Last stash report of the year. I am going to finish the year using two yards more than I bought. I've finished nothing (except the crib sheets which I didn't count--I haven't been counting fabric not used for quilting) and bought nothing. How have stash reports helped me?? It's given me ideas of how to use my stash, what I use the most, and when/if I need to buy fabric. Do I plan to continue next year--yes, and keep better records! Goal for next year--turn over more old fabric, more donation quilts, and work at using 100 yards more than I bought. Whew--I think they may be lofty goals--but goals are supposed to be something you work toward! Thanks for providing the incentive Judy!

I haven't started any projects over Christmas, the nasty weather makes me unfocused. So instead I have been ironing fabric from my scrap box, and cutting it into bricks, noodles, and string pieces. I'm sure I cut enough bricks for a full size quilt, and the stack of noodles is big too. I need to refold fabric and put it away, but then I will be ready to sew again.

this week i'm gong to be doing the same thing you are! going thru my fabric drawers and separating out the noodles, cutting down remnants into squares, and getting all the yardage together into one place.
It sound simple, but i've got 7 drawers to go thru, so it will probably be a week's worth of work.
I can already see that i've got enough scraps for at least a couple of quilts. On to 2010!

I spent the part of the week that I was home cleaning up my sewing room. It's amazing how those strips of scraps end up everywhere, so I've been working on my scraps too. Enjoy the warmth inside!

I've been busy quilting and I might even get a binding done or at least started before we leave tomorrow.

Making some pillowcases with HeartStrings will help with those stash goals for 2010! We're going to kick off our Jan/Feb Pillowcase Party with a sew-in over the New Year's Holiday.

Congrats on a good stash busting year. Once I get done re-folding fabric in my cabinet, I want to work on cutting scraps to make another bricks and stepping stones.

I can't wait to see what we do in 2010!! I have a goal of using 100 yards more than I buy, too! Considering how I am ending my year, this is quite a lofty goal!! lol

We can do it!!

Congrats on being in the positive! I'm sure we'll make our goals for next year. And organizing scraps to make a quilt is a good thing to do during this nasty weather.

Thanks for posting your reports. Posting has really helped me think more carefully about what I buy and it seems like it has you too. Good luck with it all in 2010. Congratulations for ending the year in positive numbers.

I need to do what you are doing. I have used lots of scraps this year, but I have a pile that needs to be sorted. I also have a big bin of strings I need to work on using too.
Good luck to us all in 2010.

you had a good year of stash busting and completing UFOs too. I like to sort thru scraps and cutting them into usable pieces when I am not in the mood to sew too. Hope your weather improves and you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Years!
