Ken and I met at an auction earlier this week. There was a lot of "stuff". Ken scored a $2 wooden stepladder. Several tables with household items. I love old dishes. Pie pans. Bowls. I waited 3 hours for these--
A Pyrex nesting bowl set in primary colors. Of course, several other bidders had waited along with me! This set was in very good condition, no scratches and the color hadn't worn anywhere. You often find individual bowls, in the years of use one or more of the set gets broken. Yes, I had the last bid and they will go on my shelf of "precious treasures". Sometimes its not the value of the item, but the memory that makes these things precious. My mother and grandmother never had a set of these--but I know they would have loved them.

I hope you are going to use these treasures. It would be a shame not to put them back into service.
I used to have a set of those...40 yrs. ago. Got them for a wedding gift and only have the red one left. I really miss the big yellow one, never have found as nice of a big mixing bowl.
My grandmother still has her set of those, and I immediately thought of her when I saw them. Those are the kinds of things I look for at estate sales because I have such happy memories of them!
Good Morning, Lori,
An auction? How fun...I would love a wooden ladder! Lucky you!!(If you ever run into a vintage dress form (that's cheap)...I really want one. I would drive to your place to pick it up!!
And those bowls...love them. My mom had the full set too. I still have the little blue one, but don't know what happened to the rest.
What is your water situation where you are? I have seem some pretty devastating pictures...
Have a wonderful weekend. ~Natalie
My mother offered her set just like this to me--but I couldn't bear to think of her kitchen without them.
I think I will ask if the offer is still open...
Sweet! I have the yellow and the blue but in very much used condition. I have seen the yellow in antique shops for as much as $80. Lucky girl or maybe just plain clever girl.
wow!
I want a set!!
I remember my mom using the larger sized ones for mixing up cookies and the next larger for potato salad. Thanks for posting these, nice memories.
Ha! Sewing machines. I like to find the old Corning Ware and pyrex baking dishes at sales. Rare, but I do find a few. I love the bowls.
