Design Wall Monday and Weekly Goals

Monday, January 30, 2017
Yesterday I had planned to play.  I had seen this quilt and I really liked it!

I don't have the name of the pattern or the block yet.  But its made using the "train wreck" rulers (Tri Recs) and a drunkard's path block.  So I made one--

Oops!  My drunkard's path block has the wrong size inner piece!  My block looks just like a giant spider!  I'll play with this again later.

I'm sewing the Fall in the City blocks to the sashing strips.  Not much to look at.  Please see everyone's design wall posts at Patchwork Times.

We had a big storm last week, lots of snow and ice.  Ken waited until the city plows went and did the sidewalks.  Today he moved the big drifts into a pile so we could park in front of our house on the street.

I quilted the R/W/B Album quilt this week--

I dyed a blue backing and quilted it with my favorite pantograph Fantasia--

I did a little online shopping this week.  Missouri Star had free shipping and I ordered two cones of thread--

Yesterday I put borders on the brown album top--

A light inner border, and then brown on the long sides and the sky blue on the top and bottom.  The inner border fabric was scraps and there wasn't enough of the either the brown or sky blue to all four borders, so I used both.

Weekly Goals--

Load another top
En Provence

I'm not sure how much sewing I'll get done this week.  Saturday is a Sew In with Lorri2Rs.

Winter is definitely the time to sew.  Its so much easier to stay inside when its cold and nasty!

I don't see spider and really like how much more colourful your block is.

At least three of my friends have been making album blocks. I am so tempted. I love how much texture the quilting gives yours.

you got a lot done this week I like the quilting pattern you used. I haven't tried the Omini thread yet.

I can see why that pantograph is your favorite - very pretty! Your "spider" block is very cute even if it needs a smaller curved section. I don't think I've seen that combination of blocks before like that and I like it.

Another very productive week for you. I finally got to sew on Sunday but not much earlier in the week due to work. This week should be fewer work hours so hopefully more sewing hours.

Train Wreck rulers! That's hilarious!

Send Ken over with the John Deere! I have a similar job for him. 😉

Nice job on the album quilts. I've been hibernating because it's been too bitter cold to be outside - lots of sewing and knitting happening here.

Dang, girl, I think your "mistake" is gorgeous. Of course, it IS purple.

Lori,
I love your Pickle Dish Variation. I saw that on Stashbusters, and asked if it was a Red Pepper Quilts pattern, but didn't hear back. Here is the tutorial from a couple of years ago: http://www.redpepperquilts.com/2015/06/pickle-dish-variation-quilt-part-2-tutorial.html.

Greetings. Lori,
I was wondering about all of you in that recent winter storm. We escaped the snow and ice this time. I hope you were able to stay safe and warm.

I like seeing your latest projects. Enjoy what's left of the weekend. Take care, ~Natalie
