I Don't Think I Like Them

Wednesday, May 5, 2010
All my life I've had very short nails.  They are thin, they break and chip.  I garden and sew and all sorts of things that are hard on them.  This is the longest they have ever been.

I paint them a pale pink or clear, haven't had the urge to paint then RED like my toenails!   I really do not like them this long.  I use the tips of my fingers for everything.  They are in the way.  What a nuisance, this trying to preserve them!  I envy people who have thick nails.

I keep my nails pretty short, too! and I don't have the urge to paint (or show!) my toenails! Hey, I even wear socks with my crocs :)

Cut 'em off! I can't keep my nails long for more than a few days before one breaks or snags on something. Plus, working in the garden, it's just too hard to keep the nails clean.

Mine are brittle too and I think of fingernails more as tools than decoration! I'm allergic to the fumes in nail polish so I can't polish them anyway.

My nails are a mess, thin, ridges, snaggly, even if I cut them short and keep them short, they are a mess. I have a number of beautiful rings to wear, so in my Senior Years, I DO get manicure 2x/month, Acryllic-whatever and they almost always look very nice, and strong - seldom need repairs mid appointments. The cost of ruined pantyhose, somewhat covers the extravagance of manicures. 8-))

My nails are the same--and they're about the same length today as yours are. I don't know how people manage with nails that protrude beyond the ends of their fingers!

Besides, as a nurse, I don't want to scratch my patients. Maybe someday I'll figure out how to live with long fingernails. Right now, I don't even bother to paint them.

Me too. I just hate my fingers! They look stumpy and have straight across short nails. But I'm not going to try to make them grow long or use acrylic because my fingers do an excellent job of quilting, playing the guitar and typing on the computer keyboard. They look ugly but they work just fine.
