Saturday--Baking, Cooking, and Sewing

Saturday, November 22, 2008
Last night I got a top loaded on the machine and it's ready to quilt. I also made some filling for some kolaches I made today. Still using up the apples!

If you don't know what kolaches are, they are Bohemian sweet rolls with fruit filling and streusel on top. I made a batch of taverns (bbq's) to freeze for a later date. I've even done a little Christmas shopping. The rest of the day I am going to sew!

My dad came to visit us in TX and went to a donut shop where they had jalopeno/sausage kolaches. He ordered one and took a bite expecting something sweet--it was a donut shop! He still teases me about the strange donut shops TX has.

Could you post the kolache recipe? Are you Czech? How about potato dumplings, do you make those too?
