Motivation Friday

Time to check on how I've spent the week.  Well, I know I took at least three naps!

I've wandered off the path a bit, but still making progress.  I have the Japanese Royalty top for Rosewillow's challenge together.  I have a small green edge to add, and then it will be ready to quilt.

I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with it yet, I have a tendency to like my quilts symmetrical, and this is not.  But I do like how all the people are grouped and chatting-they have a very cozy feel to them. I pulled the red/white bricks off the wall to take this picture, next I put up these 9 patches.  The sashings were made ages ago, and I was tired of working around them and watching them get wrinkled! Now the rows are ready to be sewn together--and a new top will be done.  Another UFO getting closer to a finish.

There is no planning to this top, these were some blocks I found in my sewing room from a long ago swap.  The sashing is a light apricot fabric.  I usually use white, off-white, tan--those safe colors--so this is a step out of my comfort zone.  I also offset the 9 patches--another new step to try!  It's going to be a large quilt, right now it's about 95x105".  There is a lot of it hanging on the floor you can't see!   I think there are 86 nine patches.

Yes, I've wandered off from my goals a bit, but I'm still making forward progress!

I'm feeling frustrated today.  I cannot get my email program to work.  I am switching email addresses--please be patient with me!

My blue blocks are sewn into rows and pressed.  Whew! The stepping stones are sewn into "paired matchsticks".

I need to make a couple of pillowcases and load a quilt top.  I have the weekend to work on that.

And I have another project I want to work on, I want to see if I can make myself a SKIRT.  Time will tell if that is a good idea or not!

The weather forecast doesn't look very good.  Rain, sleet, ice, and snow.  Ken's Christmas Party for work (it was to be on Saturday) is canceled.  Thursday we moved a tractor with a loader into town, it's now parked in the backyard.  You know, just in case!

How did I do on my goals so far??  I've quilted the batik D9P top.  I put together the baby D9P blocks, quilted it, and have the binding made.   I need to make two pillowcases and finish the binding on one of the quilts.  I pulled out an old UFO and am working on it.   And I better have some finishes because this came yesterday--

It's not ALL mine, the fabric on the left is Henrietta's, the jelly rolls, the two books, and the fabric on the right is mine.  No, I haven't added up my yardage yet, Sunday will be soon enough!  How has your week been?

How are my goals coming?  SLOWLY!!  So far I've only gotten my first goal done.  Royal duties and the paper route took up a lot of my time.  And now I'm relaxing.  But I have played around a bit.  I thought the loaf that Ken took to work smelled and looked so good, I had to make one for us.

It's a loaf of Cinnamon Raisin bread.  When it's cooled, I am going to sample it!

And then there was this really neat new toy Henrietta bought so I test drove it.  I should have read the directions first, color selection has A LOT to do with how your blocks look, but I wanted to see if it was EASY.  Yes, it was!

I had read about it on Elaine's blog.  Hey Henrietta---I think it's a neat tool.

Tomorrow is errand day.  I hope to find a bit of fabric to go with my Japanese Royalty fabric so I can work on the "too good to cut it up" challenge Rosewillow is hosting.  I think I can make two quilts so I'm pretty happy.  And I need to work on my "get out of the rut" challenge.  More on that later!

PS--do you think the sapphire necklace might be a bit much for shopping??

I'm not sure what I've done this week would "motivate" anyone! Another load of compost for the garden. Helped my BIL haul out some landscaping rock at their house (that tractor got used again!) and then Ken and I put the rock between our back steps and the central air units. (Is that recycled rock??) Don't have any plants there, and it's a hard place to mow. We also put some more black dirt from the garden into my flowerbeds along the house. I have received only one spool of thread--the rest is back ordered yet. But I DO have a quilt loaded and have started quilting it. And I've put at least three more rounds on the tossed salad blocks. I've quartered and then sewn back together the blooming rose blocks and then squared them up. Haven't put them together into a top yet. Want to lay them out of the wall and "test drive" them. No garden planted, the man has not been here to till it yet. Bummer!!

It is still too wet to work in the fields. DH will soon be driving me crazy. My lawn is growing like crazy, think I will have to mow again tomorrow. And sew, sewing keeps me sane!!
