Monday Goals

Sunday, August 10, 2008
Goals for this week, maybe no goals at all?? We head back to SD today, and by Wednesday I have to be at my volunteer position, then Ken is heading there for the weekend (he's on vacation) and it's Riverboat Days next weekend. So a fun weekend is planned. I will take along some blocks "just in case" I feel like sewing.

1) Get borders on Laura Beth's and Nick's baby quilt
2) sew Slide Show blocks into a top and add the borders

Enough sewing goals for this week, summer will start winding down and I want to play this weekend!!

New Heartstrings Blogring

Woohoo!! The new blog ring for Heartstrings is up and running. :) I love the Heartstrings Group. No pressure but lots of fun and helping people. Personally--I've gotten a lot more DONE and DONATED this year than ever before. Thank you Mary and all the people who've made it possible. Following Mary's link was easy. (Thank you Mary!)

I am all ready planning to try and be at the next Heartstrings Sew-In--I have a small car and wonder if all the strings will fit?? Maybe I should bring the 5th wheel camper. Oh drat--they are talking March and it's too COLD to camp in Minnesota then! ROFL!! Maybe I can host a small one at my house, I have plenty of room to sew and at least enough room to house six people, the lines at the bathrooms might be long. I also have lots of sewing machines and a large cutting table--so ladies--if you want to come--we are all set. Okay, there is a lot of dust and crud, be we can still sew!

PS--yes, Insomnia again, I made this post in the middle of the night!

Sunday Stash Report

Saturday, August 9, 2008
I am visiting Laura Beth and Nick this weekend, so will post from their computer. Can't post any pictures now, but will post some when I get home. I have bought two lengths of fleece (80" each) to back the baby quilts I'm making, 3 yards for a gift and to share as charms at my guild meeting, and 6 yds (each 2 yards) for borders and binding on the three baby quilts I have the tops made. Whew!! I also bought four books at JoAnne's because they were 40% or 50% off, can't remember but know it was a good deal! All of them will make great stash user books. And one new magazine--it has a quilt I just love in it, but I will WAIT until I am actually going to make it--I need 3 yds of a red---it uses lots of stash--but does need the one red to tie it all together.

So that makes 6+ yds of fleece, and 9 yards of "other". But ALL will be leaving my stash in the next month, so I don't feel bad at all!!

No Quiltathon for me, but will get some sewing in before the end of the month!

Wednesday Ramblings

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

Life is both slow and a whirl these days. Slow easy days when I am volunteering, and then hectic when I am not! Tomorrow we leave for MN to see Laura Beth and Nick. I got home today to start laundry, and a friend stopped by, so we sat on the deck and had pizza for supper. Ahhh!! But I took a few pictures, as I haven't been posting near as much. First--My old fashioned Tiger Lilies are blooming. I have tried to buy these but can only find the asiatic hybrids available.
And my coneflowers are faithfully blooming their hearts out!
Today I remember to take a picture of the finished Tossed Salad quilt, I have been using it in the camper, so nice and snuggly with flannel on the back.
I'll be gone until next week, no sewing, but I am hoping to find some fabric to match the top of the baby quilt I made, I need some borders! (How could I forget to buy the fabric for the border??!!)

Sunday Stash Report

Sunday, August 3, 2008

No stash bought, but I did finish the Tossed Salad quilt. That used about 10 yards. I started using it immediately, it's on the bed in my camper. No sewing lately, busy volunteering and getting ready to go visit my daughter.

Tuesday (or Early Wednesday) Thoughts

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

See the new flower on the side of the blog? How funny to take the quiz and then find out the "flower" I am is one I have been growing and have a picture of. Purple Coneflowers!

Today was a long day of medical tests and Dr. appts to have him say I am "normal" for my age! Come back in a year. Whee!!!

Last night and tonight I worked on the baby blanket my husband asked me to make, will make TWO and maybe be ahead of him. The winter must have been very cold, :p lots of babies the next few months!

And weather, the weather prediction for tomorrow is 101°. And it was 97°today, no wonder my petunias looked droopy.

Monday Goals

Monday, July 28, 2008
Well, I'm not going to have much for goals. The next two weeks are full of volunteering, errands, and we are spending a long weekend with our daughter and husband. Last night I did finish the tossed salad quilt (woohoo!!) Tonight Ken asked if I could "quick make a baby quilt" for another pregnant co-worker of his. I have a simple pattern I've been wanting to try, so maybe if I cut out TWO of them I will keep ahead of him!!

1. Look for border fabric to go on baby quilt
2. cut out another baby quilt (or TWO!)
3. more lemonade and sitting admiring summer!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, it just seems to be flying by!
